House Lambie Update: Major Milestones in Home Building Journey
October Update - Pat and Kate Lambie’s Dream Home at Seaton
As we dive into October, it’s hard to believe how quickly the year has flown by. For Pat and Kate Lambie, the journey toward creating their dream home is in full swing, and with the expert team at KR Projects leading the way, things are looking set to finish 2023 on a high note. We sat down with Pat and Kate to discuss the latest milestones in their home-building journey. Here’s an exclusive update on House Lambie’s progress!
Major Milestone: Concrete Slab for First Floor Poured
In late July, the Lambies hit an exciting milestone with the pouring of the concrete slab for the first floor. A massive 68.5 cubic meters of concrete were used to create this essential foundation, which now serves as both the ceiling to their kitchen, dining, and lounge areas and the floor for their bedrooms. The concrete slab also includes the installation of red, blue, and white pipes for gas, plumbing, and electrical systems—all securely reinforced with over 5 tons of steel.
Roofing Decisions Made
After extensive discussions with their building team, Pat and Kate decided on an aluminium roof sheet for the house. Given the coastal location of Seaton, this choice offers optimal protection against corrosion, ensuring the home’s longevity. The roof colour is a sleek light grey, staying true to the renders they had envisioned. Additionally, some of the bedrooms will feature exposed trusses, as Kate prefers a minimalist, clean white aesthetic. With the support of their builder Karl and roofing supplier Greg, this decision is set to enhance both the structure and style of House Lambie.
Finalizing Fixtures: First Fix Positions
Pat and Kate met with Greg and Marius from C&C Plumbing Solutions to finalize the positions of their plumbing fixtures, including taps, shower roses, toilets, and basins. With the roof now in place, C&C will begin installing the in-wall plumbing fixtures, such as cisterns, pipes, and mixers that will be concealed within the brickwork. This step marks a critical point in moving closer to completing the internal systems of the house.
Interior Design Progress: Bringing Ideas to Life
The interior design process is also moving forward smoothly. Pat and Kate met with the talented team at Hannah + Holl, who have helped them select the perfect elements for the kitchen, scullery, and bar area. Every inch has been meticulously measured and integrated into the 3D model created by Jess, allowing the Lambies to visualize the spaces and understand the overall flow of the home. Roof Complete!
The goal for getting the roof on House Lambie was set for October, and we’re thrilled to announce that the team has hit the target! The roof is now officially on, making the vision of House Lambie feel even closer to reality. With this major step complete, Pat and Kate are excited to move forward and start focusing on the finer details that will bring their dream home to life.
Pool Progress: Outdoor Living Coming Together
The outdoor area is also taking shape, with progress on the swimming pool well underway. The pool has been dug out and will soon be constructed using concrete and finished with marble. While the water won’t be added until the new year, once the grass is laid, it’s clear that the Lambies are one step closer to having a pool they can enjoy with their family. This pool will no doubt become a favourite spot for Pat, Kate, and their boys.
