Exciting Milestones in March: The Journey to Building House Lambie at Seaton

House Lambie at Seaton: Construction Updates and Progress

We can hardly believe it’s already March! The year has been off to a great start, and we’re thrilled to share some exciting updates on the progress of House Lambie at Seaton. If you’ve been following along, you know how important these milestones are to us. Here’s a look at what we’ve achieved so far:

We’ve Got the Green Light for Our Plans!

The much-awaited plan approval for House Lambie (Plan number 23/01/012) is officially in place! At the start of March, we collected the stamped plans, marking a huge step forward. While we didn’t get the plans as quickly as we hoped, the overall delay was minimal — just a few weeks in the grand scheme of things — and now we can finally move forward with construction!

Our Builders Are Onboard!

After a thorough selection process, we’re pleased to announce that KR Projects, led by Karl and Rob, will be the builders for House Lambie. They use a cost-plus management fee model, which made them an attractive choice for us. We couldn’t find a single negative review of their work, and their portfolio of stunning homes on the North Coast speaks for itself. Their personal connection to the area — living just 5 minutes from Seaton — and their commitment to taking on only a limited number of projects each year, reassured us that we are in expert hands for this build.

Funding Secured with Investec

We are thrilled to share that Investec has approved the bond for House Lambie. The lending facility we received perfectly matches the total estimated cost provided by KR Projects and our quantity surveyor (QS). Structuring our loan to only pay interest on the amounts we’ve used will help with cash flow during construction. Now, we’re focused on getting the bond registered as quickly as possible — though it may take 6 to 8 weeks. In the meantime, we might have to cover the first few payments using some of our own savings.

We’ve Officially Broken Ground!

March 7th was a monumental day for us — we officially broke ground on House Lambie! The site handover was completed, and the green shade cloth went up, signalling that the build is officially underway. Earthworks began immediately, with a full team of diggers, graders, rollers, and excavators on-site. As the first home to break ground at Seaton, this was an incredibly proud and special moment for us. Next up: piling!
