Pat and Kate's Home at Seaton: Building Plan Approval is Finally Underway

Pat and Kate's Journey to Their Dream Home in Seaton

The Journey So Far

After five months of hard work and collaboration with Lisa Rorich Architects, Pat and Kate are one step closer to their dream home at Seaton. The plans for their new property have now been submitted to the KwaDukuza Municipality, marking an exciting milestone in their journey. Now, the only thing left to do is await approval!

How Long Does Building Plan Approval Take?

The approval process for building plans can typically take between 8 to 16 weeks, depending on several factors, including the number of applications currently in the queue. Delays are common, particularly if there are requests for relaxations to building lines, floor area ratios, coverage, or building heights. Fortunately, Pat and Kate’s plans don’t require any relaxation, and with all the necessary details in place, they are hopeful for a smooth approval process.

The Countdown to Construction

As they await approval, there are a few things Pat and Kate need to consider. With just 5 weeks before the Christmas shutdown and 4 more weeks into the new year, this leaves them with a tight window of 10 weeks before their planned construction start date of February 1st. While it’s a bit of a race against the clock, the Lambies are optimistic and ready to get started on their Seaton home.
